Game and Nature Reserves

Bymarka is the recreation ground of the city of Trondheim, Norway. Bymarka is situated to the west of the city center and has an area of 80 km², with more than 200 km of walking tracks. Bymarka is very popular for cross-country skiing in the winter, and for walks, hiking or jogging in the summer. Moose, red fox, hare and squirrel are the most common animals, but there are also healthy populations of roe deer, beaver, badger and also some otters.

Stadsheia is Trondheim’s fifth highest mountain top (464 meters) and is partly covered by Bymarka Nature Reserve. Access from Tømmerdalen and Gamle Bynesvei. Follow northbound trail from Svahylla against Herbernheia. There are very steep hills on the south side Stadsheia, and the best route is directly between the top of Herbernheia and the top of Stadsheia. Nice view in good weather. Image Map
